WHERE IT BEGAN
The idea of Corby Hair and Beauty Supplies Ltd was born in Summer 2006 in my grandmothers’ kitchen. Alongside cups of tea and slices of granny’s brown bread I chatted with aunts and uncles about what I was going to do next....
I had trained in Cavan College of Further Studies and received an Honours City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing and Beauty Care in 2001. During my first year I also completed a course in Fashion and Theatre Makeup in Dublin.
I then worked as a stylist in 2 salons working my way up the ladder before taking a managerial role. From a very young girl I always knew that I would have my own business someday, a belief instilled in me by my father who is an accomplished businessman all his life.
So, I suppose the most straight forward idea would be to open my own salon. But I had other plans!
MY JOURNEY
I wanted to stay in the hairdressing industry but branch off somewhat. I felt that my inside knowledge of hairdressing and my product wisdom was something that maybe other sales reps may not have. I knew the difference in a Wella 7.0 from a Schwarzkopf 7.0, exactly why the ‘blue box of upstyle grips’ were the holy grail of upstyling pins and how one brand of meche felt differently to another brand when putting in a head of highlights simply because I had used all these when I was working as a stylist.
I felt that I could talk to a hairdresser from a hairdresser’s point of view and give honest and helpful advice on products and tools.
So I set about contacting all the brands I wanted to stock and within a few weeks I had the boot and back seat of my Ford Focus car full of product!! This was my first taste of sales and I loved it. I purchased my first van March 2007 and since then I have travelled the country delivering stock and meeting with salon owners on a regular schedule. This to me is the most important thing, providing a service that means that salons can have their stock delivered to their door and with the knowledge and advice to back up each and every item I sell.
Something that I am also passionate about is education and being able to attend amazing seminars in the North-West of Ireland without having to travel to the big cities. Down through the years we have held many seminars and workshops with leading and inspirational hairdressers such as Shay Dempsey, Martha Galvin, and Conor Doyle to name a few.

In April 2021 our website was born giving us the ability to showcase our products and services to every hairdresser and salon. I have a massive commitment to my customers’ needs and the hairdressing industry and strive to provide the most up to date products and information possible by visiting trade shows worldwide such as Cosmoprof in Bologna and Salon International in London.
